There are certain foods I don't or didn't like. Not that I can't eat, but if I have another choice, I would not go for those certain things. One of them is hotdog. Before my husband and I went to Munich, I wasn't too excited about food. I thought Germany is not meant for me, food wise. However, I found myself sitting comfortably in the middle of Munich, enjoying wollwurst (veal sausage) at Ratskeller Cafe. Not only that day did I enjoy German food, but on various occasions, different food. I surprised myself.
Upon our return from Germany, I asked Mr Be to make me a hotdog! I also search for German restaurants in Manchester. After delaying for quite long time, last Sunday we went to Hotspot Ess Paradies in Chorlton.
I expected to find bratwurst dish similar to what I had in Munich that looks like this:
The beef jus (gravy) on the above dish was so delicious.
I didn't find anything with 'gravy' on the menu at Hotspot Ess Paradies. But I saw a photo of sausages with chips (French fries) and some sauce. I asked Ramin, the staff (or, the owner?) -oh he was an ace! He was brilliant. He had a real great hospitality, thanks Ramin!- what it was to which he said that it was bratwurst curry. So I opted it with mashed potato instead of chips. When it arrived, I was disappointed because it came in tomato-based sauce (another food I do not like!). The curry thingy was just cumin powder sprinkled on to the bratwurst. Though, I finished the food except the sauce. Here is the photo:
Mr Be went for beef goulash with chips and red cabbage. It was different with goulash we had in Germany and Hungary, but I found Ramin's goulash was really tasty. Mr Be didn't like it though.
Here is goulash soup we had in Germany:
And, here is the goulash soup we had in Budapest, Hungary:
What Ramin had is this:
For dessert, I opted a weird thing, Fanta cake (Fantakuchen). It was light sponge with peaches and cream with a hint of Fanta. Quite nice.
Mr Be chose Napoleon cake (custard slice). He was pleased with it.
The place was quite uplifting with colourful decorations on the wall. And Ramin, again, deserved two thumbs up.
That picture of the bratwurst you had in Munich is enough to convince me to go holidaying there lol.
ReplyDeleteNanti cobain deh teh Ed's Easy Diner, beef frankfurtersnya lumayan enak. X
Pngn nyobain kapan2 ah.. apa ntar Selasa dibungkus? Tapi kalo bratwurst enaknya dimakan langsung, kalo dibungkus jadi kurang seru kayaknya.
