Caucasian cuisine
Location: 4th Floor, Galeria Mall, near train station.
I quoted this from http://www.st-petersburg-essentialguide.com/caucasian-cuisine.html:
"Have you ever tried Caucasian cuisine before? If your answer is no, then you can not leave Russia's Northern Capital without sampling some Caucasian dishes.
If you are planning your first trip to St Petersburg in Russia, you will certainly be interested in tackling Russian dishes. That's fine! But you shouldn't stop there. In fact you should also try the food from the former of Soviet republics, such as Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.
Generally known as Caucasian cuisine and very popular with Russians, this type of food is made up of various dishes of grilled skewered meat, fresh vegetables, soups, bread and fruit. The dishes often taste and look different because each country has their own peculiar techniques for cooking and distinctive flavors."
It was our last night in St Petersburg. We decided to have a meal at a foodcourt of a mall, expecting to find various choice in case my husband and I had different desire what to eat.
Upon searching on internet, I found out there was a restaurant, amongst others, which was not a fast-food type but a proper restaurant located on the 4th floor of Galeria Mall. The Mall itself is only a few minutes away from our hotel (Novotel), by foot.
Actually I did not care about fast-food or proper. What intrigued me was the fact that it served Caucasian cuisine, something we had never tried, and we both love trying something new!! So, yes, we were very excited.
Glad we went. The food were all delicious, the staff spoke English very well and very helpful. The menu was written in English with a clear photo on each item. Excellent. The price for what we had was not really expensive.
Thank you Baklazhan. We will certainly return to try other dishes had we had a chance to go back to St Petersburg.
Oh btw, baklazhan means eggplant.

We were surprised when he came to our table with a big tray and a stand to
put the tray. I thought we ordered something
wrongly -I thought he would have given us a huge meal lol..
Another surprise: he said "Assalamualaikum" (Arabic greetings), unusual greetings in a restaurant.
